Operating in one of Nigeria’s most conflict-affected states, FAHUZ-SVG implements structured peacebuilding interventions that address both immediate triggers and underlying drivers of violence — including banditry, farmer-herder tensions, and communal displacement. • Community dialogue and reconciliation forums facilitated by trained peace volunteers and traditional rulers • Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) networks across high-conflict LGAs • Interfaith and inter-communal mediation involving Islamic scholars, Christian leaders, and youth groups • Collaboration with Katsina State Security Council and community protection committees
As an active member of the Katsina State Women, Peace and Security network, FAHUZ-SVG recognizes women as indispensable agents of peace and recovery. Our WPS programming is aligned with UNSCR 1325 and Nigeria’s Third National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security (NAP III, 2025–2030). • Women Peace Committees established across LGAs for community-level conflict prevention • Training of women community leaders in conflict mediation and WPS advocacy • Documentation and response to conflict-related gender-based violence through established referral pathways • Governance-level commitment: Women’s Rights Advocate on Board of Trustees
FAHUZ-SVG implements a comprehensive empowerment agenda that simultaneously addresses gender-based violence, economic exclusion, and social marginalization — recognizing that sustainable peace is inseparable from gender justice and economic autonomy. • GBV survivor support: referral networks connecting survivors to legal aid, health, and psychosocial services • Vocational training and livelihood skills for conflict-affected women, widows, and displaced persons • Income-Generating Activity (IGA) groups for returnee and economically marginalized women • Safe spaces for adolescent girls: health information, mentorship, and skills development • Sensitization of male champions and religious leaders on gender equality and women’s rights
FAHUZ-SVG integrates natural resource and climate dimensions as a conflict prevention strategy, addressing the root causes of farmer-herder tensions and food insecurity among vulnerable households. • Farmer-herder dialogue forums promoting agro-pastoral coexistence in conflict-prone LGAs • Support for women farmers’ cooperatives to access climate-adaptive inputs and market linkages • Nutritional and food security support for TB/HIV-affected and conflict-displaced households
